This was a great little day cruise to get over to Eagle Harbor BI to watch the fireworks. We headed out around 1:30PM and made a couple of loops heading over to Elliot Bay Marina to take on fuel in order to calibrate the auto-pilot. I had to jiggle the cord a bit, but finally got it to auto calibrate.
We took on 3.4 GAL of diesel which was much less than I expected given that I had previously pumped out 5.5 gallons of what I thought had been diesel from the engine pan. If it had been all fuel as Scott had thought, I should have taken on at least that much fuel in kind.
The breeze piped up for our crossing and we sailed a course straight for Blakely Rock under main and drifter.
We dropped sail and motored into the harbor finding fellow CYC members already rafting up. After a little of hub hub we joined them on the end. Rob, Hong & the kids went ashore in 2 groups. The dinghy preformed flawlessly and we had Roy N come aboard from his boat which was docked at the Tyee outstation.
The rain and clouds cleared just as the fireworks were about to begin. We enjoyed a great show and motored home after the show was complete at about 4.5 knots. That took about 2 hours and was uneventful.
